U14 Manly Bombers Girls Fly Up

The newly formed U14 Manly Bombers Girls AFL team, sponsored by Bendigo Bank Freshwater, has been highly successful this season.  In fact, so far the team is undefeated and sitting top of the table in their Sydney Harbour competition. None of the girls on the team had ever played AFL before this season, and they range in age from 11 to 14 years old. They come out to training and games every week giving it everything they have for the team, and have improved out of sight.  They have topped teams from Queenwood, East Sydney and Northern Districts, as well as won twice against Western Suburbs and Glebe/Newtown.  Every time they win a game the girls sing the team song “See The Bombers Fly Up” at the end of the game.  They all now know the words, and sing it with pride. Finals footy looks like it is definitely on the cards for this young girls’ team.
